Maryam Abdulhaq is a dedicated Barrister & Solicitor and a licensed member of the Law Society of Ontario since 2021, with over a decade of experience in Afghanistan and Canada. She provides hands-on, compassionate, and strategic representation for clients facing complex legal matters.
Maryam earned her LL.B. from Kabul University and her LL.M. in International & Comparative Law from Chapman University, USA, and previously worked as an advocate and human rights and women's rights activist in Afghanistan.
Since 2017, Maryam has been a key member of Y. Liu Law Firm. She represents clients in Refugee and Immigration matters, including Immigration Division (ID) and Refugee Protection Division (RPD) hearings, Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) appeals, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments (PRA), admissibility hearings, detention reviews, Humanitarian & Compassionate (H&C) applications, sponsorships, work permits, and private sponsorships (G5).
She also handles Family Law, including divorce, spousal support, child support, decision-making, parenting time, matrimonial home, and property division; Real Estate, including purchases, sales, refinances, private mortgages, and title transfers; Wills & Estates, including preparing wills, powers of attorney, and estate trustee appointments; and Civil Litigation, representing clients before Federal Court, Superior Court, and Small Claims Court in objections, appeals, and judicial reviews.
Maryam personally manages every case from start to finish, ensuring clients receive direct communication, informed guidance, and strong advocacy. She speaks English, Dari/Persian, and has limited knowledge of Pashto and Urdu.
